In this supernatural tale readers are introduced to a new Faerie. In this rendition of Faerie the ideas of the Underworld and Faerie are combined. This they call the Otherworld. All forms of Otherworldly creatures are described as Fey. This includes, but is not limited to, Vampires and Shape-Shifters.
Delilah, a shape-shifting tabby cat, Menolly, a Fey vampire, and Camille an otherwise normal half-human-half-Fey are agents for the OIA, Otherworld Intelligence Agency, who have been sent to our world to help control Fey-Human interactions. They believe that they have been sent to our world simply because they are half-human and because of this their powers are 50% of the time unpredictable.
The girls are living the celebrity life as well. Humans know of the Fey and worship them like they are movie stars. This leads to an interesting lifestyle for all girls involved. They seem to have it easy until a friend of theirs is murdered.
Turns out that the girls are about to face down one of the biggest and baddest demons of the subterranean realms. How are these girls with "faulty-wiring" supposed to save humankind from this evil? Well, that's where it gets interesting.
Ok, I have to admit something. I HATED the first few chapters of this novel. I couldn't stand the frivolous characters. I would even go as far as saying the characters were brittle and weak. I can't stand trying to read a book where the main character is weak-willed and boring.
However, by the time I finished the novel I was in love with every aspect of it. The characters grow throughout the entire novel and by the end they are kicking butt and taking names (be ready for quips like that throughout the novel as well).
I would give this novel a 4 out of 5 stars and would recommend it to any lover of the supernatural
